After working on supplier Quality management , I had encounter situation . I have customer whose id technology leader 10 year old well established start up . We have supplier with known history about five year old organization, well on the contrary suppler of the supplier  identity unknown making m2.5  screw . Had screw up on head chamfer angle. Infesting thing is customer  expect us somebody who assembled his product to inspect these screw or rather screen dimensionally

Here my take is

1.      first design rule one suppose to use standard spares like screw from established name off the self , if need customization use know /establish spare manufactures

2.      emphasis on supplier take ownership of what he supply , supplier selection/Process qualification/ PPPAP/APQP/FAI

3.      we are in 20th century receiving inspection is history, One can ask for data before shipment , online spec at supplier end  One  an have some monitoring for  critical components for critical parameters                     

 

So, what would you do in such situation?
